instagram

I have fallen in love with a new iPhone app called:

This app is awesome!!
Seriously, it is addicting.

It's another camera for you phone but it provides
you with sixteen different filters to choose from.

Filters: Normal, X-Pro II, Lomo-fi, Earlybird, Sutro, Toaster, Brannan, Inkwell,
Walden, Hefe, Apolo, Poprocket, Nashville, Gotham, 1977 & Lord Kelvin.
*Earlybird and Nashville are my favorite filters.

Here are a few pictures I created with Instagram:

Note: You can even upload photos that you took without
the Instagram app and begin to use all of the fun filters.

And guess what...
It's a free app!!!!!

PS. If you download this app...come find me.

Wee Bit Wednesdays

-

This is my first time to participate in Leigh Ashley's
Wee Bit Wednesdays

{one}
have you ever been stuck in an elevator?
No, thank God! I would freak out.
I have my bouts with claustiphobia.
I would absolutely panic!!!!

{two}
have you ever ridden on an elephant?
Yes, when I was younger. (maybe six or seven)
My sister, brother, and I got to ride one at a circus.

{three}
have you ever met a well known celebrity?
Sadly, no.
I would have loved to have met
J.T.T. back in the day! ;)

{four}
do you have any food allergies?
I do not.
(that I know of)

{five}
do you know how to sew?
I wish. I have really been wanting to learn.
I have the sewing machine - I just need to
take the time to teach myself how to use it.

{six}
did you get an allowance when you were young?
I honestly don't remember ever getting an allowance.
But my memory is absolutely horrible.
Mom, did you ever give us an allowance??

{seven}
how often do you fill up your gas tank?
I usually fill up once about every 2 weeks.

{eight}
have you ever been stung by a jelly fish?
No. In fact, I didn't swim in the ocean for a very long
time because of my fear of jelly fish... oh, and sharks.
The first time I went swimming in the ocean...
I think I was about twenty-two years old.

{nine}
have you ever been robbed?
Nope.

{ten}
what is the worst haircut you've ever had?
Oh my. It was absolutely tragic.
I think I was in the ninth grade and we went to some
cheap salon where you only pay like $7 for a haircut.
(You get what you pay for, right?)
Anyway, she cut a bunch of layers in my hair but they
were all lopsided and uneven. I went home and cried and cried.
Finally, my mom made me go back and ask the lady to fix it.
I went back and her method of fixing it was cutting it all off.
WHAT???? I looked like a boy. A BOY!!! It was so awful.
And that is why I have mini little panic
attacks every time I go and get my hair done.

The end.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 3

Day Three:
Your first love.

My first love.

That's right.
My first love was Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
Lovingly known as J.T.T.

I first laid eyes on J.T.T. in 1991 when I was just ten years old.
He played Randy Taylor in Home Improvement from 1991 - 1998

Home-Improvement-Season-1

Man, did I loved that show!

He also was the voice of Simba in The Lion King.

In 1995, when I was 14 (and in the 8th grade) he came out
with a movie called Man of the House (with Chevy Chase).

man-of-the-house-cover

I swear I saw that movie 8 times in theatre.

When Sarah would come to visit, we would walk
down to the grocery store and spend all of our
money on Teen Bop magazines.
We were so obssessed.

I had J.T.T.'s pictures plastered all over my walls.
I had Devon Sawa & Jonathan Brandis all over my walls, too!

Anyway, JTT was definitely my first love!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 2

Day Two:
Meaning behind your blog name.

Blogg5-4

Sadly, there is really no special meaning behind
my blog name - but here is where I go the idea...

You remember that time a few years ago when Facebook
"Pieces of Flair" was cool? Ok, maybe not cool but a fun
way to pass the time when you were seriously bored??
Anyone? No? Just me?
Oh.

Anyway, here is a piece of flair that was my favorite:

ha ha. wait. what?

This made me laugh.

Anyway, that is where I came up with my blog name.

On a happier note...

...because my last post was such a downer...

I'm going on vacation this weekend!

YAY!

We will be staying here:

(Arkansas)

And going here:

and here:

-

and here:

-

It's the Hatcher/Burns/Leach Family vacation of 2011!

I'm so excited. I haven't been on vacation since
my cruise to Costa Maya & Cozumel back in 2006.

I'm so looking forward to spending a week in the beautiful Ozarks.
Be prepared for a lot of blog posts with lots of pictures.

Only three days left of work!!
(including today)

Woo hoo!

I'm so in need of a vacation.

Another exciting thing is that I will be going on vacation
again in six months. I'm going to the bahamas, baby!!!

Oh happy day!
(for real this time)

I've got a lemon...

I have the cutest, sweetest, most loveable, adorable,
cuddliest dog in the world...BUT...he is an absolute lemon.

-He has a very sensitive stomach.
So I had to switch his food to Purina "Sensitive Systems"
(which isn't cheap).

-I'm also still paying off his $1,800 surgery from
when he got the stuffing of a dog toy stuck in bowels.

-He has really bad allergies.

-He has hip problems.

And now... his right knee pops in and out of place.
I took him to the vet because he was limping all the
time and the vet said that his cartilage is pretty much
gone and that he needs surgery...soon.

Awesome.

Here is the estimated quote for his surgery:

Now I need to come up with $1,200 for his surgery.

Good-bye new iMac and Photoshop CS5!
See you in a few years...

Oh happy day!

Movie Review: Soul Surfer

Melissa, Ashley and I went to see this movie on Saturday morning and I thought it was AH-MAZING!!

We started off the very emotional experience with two movie previews that made all three of us cry...not a good sign of what was to come with the movie.

I seriously cried through the entire movie! THE ENTIRE MOVIE!!

I thought AnnaSophia Robb did an amazing job on this movie.
I also love me some Dennis Quaid.

The movie was really well done - with only a few cheesy, cringe-worthy parts...but overall...really well done. :)

Movie Synopsis:
SOUL SURFER is the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a champion again, inspiring millions worldwide through the love of her family, her sheer determination, and her unwavering faith in God. The film features an all-star cast, including AnnaSophia Robb and Helen Hunt, with Carrie Underwood in her film debut, and Dennis Quaid.

Bethany (played by AnnaSophia Robb) was born to surf. A natural talent who took to the waves at a young age, she was leading an idyllic, sun-drenched, surfer girl's life on the Kauai Coast, competing in national competitions with her best friend Alana (Lorraine Nicholson), when everything changed in a heartbeat. On Halloween morning, Bethany was on a typical ocean outing when a 14-foot tiger shark came out of nowhere and seemed to shatter all her dreams.

In the wake of this life-changing event that took her arm and nearly her life, Bethany's feisty determination and steadfast faith spur her toward an adventurous comeback that gives her the grit to turn her loss into a gift for others.

SOUL SURFER is based on the book by Bethany Hamilton, Sheryl Berk and Rick Bundschuh.

I would definitely recommend everyone go see this movie.
Seriously. I absolutely loved it!!!!

PS. You should check out one of the previews that made me cry. Go to youtube.com and search for Dolphin Tale (2011). (It has Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman & Ashley Judd in it.)

It's an investment, right?

So, as many of you may know I love to take pictures. Love it!

I have had several photoshoots in the past but they have
all been for family and friends. Although, I had my first
paying gig back in December when I took my friend
Roni's family pictures for their Christmas cards.

DSC_0390-3

And ever since then, she has been recommending me like
crazy to all of her friends and family. Just a couple of weeks
ago I took pictures of her niece and nephew for her
sister. This was my second time to get paid.

DSC_0770-3  DSC_01070-2

So, it looks like in the near future I will be getting more
and more photography jobs (thanks to Roni) and here is
what my problem is... Sadly, my sony vaio laptop is about
to go kaput. Seriously. It is absolutely worthless.

And that is why I want this.......

Or this...

And this .

I currently have Adobe Photoshop CS4 but
would love to have the updated software!!!!

So...do you agree?
It's an investment, right?
Right?
Eh?
Anyone with me?
Hello?

Right.

Oh Colin!

So, a few nights after I saw The King's Speech (love love love loved it,
by the way) I had a vivid dream that I was married to Colin Firth.

In my dream, we had been married for a few years and I
was so in love with him. I mean, seriously...I thought he
hung the moon. He had three children that became my
stepchildren and I loved them as if they were my own...
even the surly teenage boy.  We lived in a beautiful
house and had a golden retriever dog.
I adored my life as Colin's wife.

And when I woke up...I thought Colin Firth?? Really??
Colin Firth?????

The next day after my dream, we were having a family
birthday gathering and I mentioned my random dream about being
married to Colin Firth and how much I love love LOVED him.
And my family teased me the rest of the night.

Anyway, this past weekend I logged into my
facebook and had an awesome surprise!

Here is what Sarah posted on my facebook:

Caption: "Let's all take a moment and step into Amy's dream..."

I will always have a little special place in my heart for Colin!!

Oh Colin!!!!!

Ha ha. This makes me laugh.
